Tibetan monk arrested


According to a report received from a reliable source in Tibet, a 58 year-old monk named Bhag- zo of Chokha Monastery in Rinpung Dzong under Shigatse prefecture was arrested by Public Security Officials in July 1996 for the alleged possession of audio cassettes which contain detailed information on the Panchen Lama reincarnate recognised by the Dalai Lama and for recording and transcribing news broadcast from Voice Of America. Bhag-zo was responsible for the overall mannagement of the monastery. His present whereabout is not known. His family and relatives are concerned about his safety and whereabouts. Since he usually made masks he was widely known by his nick name Bhag-zo (mask Maker) and people did not call him by his actual name.
